Prof Greg Tegart, AM FTSE

Prof Greg Tegart, whose current area of activity is health, longevity and technology has had a long career in Government and industry in the areas of research, teaching, administration, and high level policy advice to Government on science, technology and environment.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and was a Member of the Council of the Academy (1984-87, 1990-92, 1994-97) and Chairman of its International Relations Committee (1988-99). Prof Tegart is one of the Leaders of the Technology and Health Forum of the Academy. He was the author of the recent major Academy report on Smart Technology for Healthy Longevity. He is a Foreign Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and of the Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic.

His main research interests include:

  • Science and technology policy-national and international
  • Technology and society
  • Technology foresight and strategic intelligence
  • Converging technologies in health and energy

Prof Greg Tegart will debate in the Plenary Session on Connected Technologies “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” on 29 May 2012, the first day of the IFA 11th Global Conference on Ageing.
